Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight

@ NAS Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, TX

February 2008

This USMC “Phrog” lifts off from Fort Worth JRB for a dusk training flight.  First flown in 1958, the CH-46 was one of the first helicopters to use new turboshaft engines that were replacing piston engines of that era.  The Sea Knight was operated by the Marines to provide all-weather, day-or-night assault transport of combat troops, supplies and equipment. In service from 1964-2015, the USMC CH-46 has now been replaced by the MV-22 Osprey.  Nikon D70s w/80-200mm.
