Hawker Sea Fury T.20

@ Chino Airport, Chino, CA

May 2013

This was my first trip to the Planes of Fame airshow held here in Chino.  It was the last piston-engined, propeller-driven fighter to serve with the Royal Navy, and also one of the fastest production single piston-engined aircraft ever built.  The unique five-bladed prop on this aircraft indicates it is powered by the original Bristol Centaurus engine.  The T.20 was a two-seat training version for the Royal Navy, with only 61 built.  Nikon D300 w/18-200mm, processed with Aperture and Photomatix Pro.

  1. That looks so cool! I wouldn’t even call that ‘natural aluminium’ – more ‘raw metal’. Do you know the history the aircraft and why it’s unpainted?
