Virgin Atlantic Airbus A340-600
@San Francisco International Airport, San Francisco, CA
This Airbus bridges the old and the new control towers at SFO as it taxies out for the long flight to London. In August 2002, Virgin became the first airline to operate the Airbus A340-600 and currently operates nine of these aircraft and plans to remove them from service in the near future. Production of the type ended in 2011 after 377 were delivered and the market dried up with the transition to twin-engined aircraft for long distance routes.
