North American P-51C Mustang

@ Colorado Springs Airport, Colorado Springs, CO

August 2014

This Mustang taxies in after a flight performance at the inaugural Pikes Peak Regional Airshow.  The CAF Red Tail Squadron restored and flies this rare P-51C to create interest in the story of the Tuskegee Airmen.  The first Merlin-powered Mustangs were designated P-51B/C, the only difference being the B’s were built in Long Beach, California, and the C’s in Dallas, Texas. Nikon D300 w/18-200mm, processing with Aperture.

  1. What a legend! It truly looks like it’s going fast, even at taxiing speed.
